This Alpha 1.1.2_01 leaf decay fix doesn't have game tick issues, metadata issues, or pre-mature leaf decay!
Leaves and Logs are more aware of each other because of some simple changes stopping pre-mature leaf decay with regular and big trees. Leaves also decay somewhat differently, the change is minimal but they will actually decay without you needing to be right next to the leaves or initiating the process.
Source and RetroMCP patches will be inside the download along side the mod, feel free to check it out.
If you want to use this in singleplayer you of course have to have it install to your client.
Though if a server has this mod installed you do not need it installed client side for the leaf decay to work on the server.
Modloader not required but I had to select an API.
You can see a big tree decaying in the background but that is because I hadn't videos pre-mature leaf decay yet when I recorded the video!

How to Install Better Leaf Decay on Your Server
Order Server
Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).
Set modloader Loader
In the panel under "Egg", select the modloader loader and matching Minecraft version (a1.1.2_01).
Install Mod
Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Better Leaf Decay". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Better Leaf Decay server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong modloader version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors.
