It exists to make BetterEnd available on Forge for modern Minecraft versions.

Requires: BCLib, WunderLib.

What this project does

Adds new content to The End: new biomes, blocks, items, mobs, world generation, and exploration features (see Features below).
This Forge port includes Forge/1.20.1-specific bug fixes while keeping behavior as close to upstream as possible.

How this port differs from the original

  • Loader/platform: Forge (upstream is Fabric)
  • Minecraft version: 1.20.1
  • Changes: Forge/1.20.1-specific bug fixes (see list below)
  • Support: this is an unofficial port; upstream authors do not maintain it

About BetterEnd

BetterEnd expands and refreshes The End by adding new biomes and enhancing existing ones. Each biome has its own atmosphere, resources, and mobs. The mod also includes custom music, sounds, and effects to make exploration feel alive and interesting.

BetterEnd includes a custom End world generator and custom Central Island structures. With the new generator, End islands can have different shapes, terrain, and heights. Inside islands you can find caves with unique resources.

Features

  • 24+ new biomes (more may be added later)
  • 6 new mobs (with biome variations for some of them)
  • Many new blocks, including 9 wood types and 7 new stone types
  • Many new items, including new food sources, tools, armor, and weapons
  • New mechanics like Infusion Rituals, Anvil Recipes, End tool progression, and others
  • Integrations with other mods (example: 2 new sub-biomes for BYG biomes in 1.16 and some new plants for them)
  • Custom End world generator (configurable) with more possibilities than vanilla
  • Configs for blocks, items, mobs, enchants, and many other things

Frequently Asked Questions

BetterEnd Forge server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong forge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 4 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.20.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is BetterEnd Forge compatible with forge?

BetterEnd Forge officially supports forge for Minecraft 1.20.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with BetterEnd Forge – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 6 GB (per 5 players). Use /spark profiler to check if BetterEnd Forge consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
