About this Mod

Chat Tabs adds some features to the chat window that I thought would be useful.

Features:

Tabs:

The main feature of this mod.
Chat tabs can be configured to use a regex filter to declutter your chat.
Tabs can also be generated automatically when a player messages you.

Scroll Bar:

The chat scroll bar can now be clicked and dragged.

Chat Appearance:

The chat screen can be configured to use a different background color and can be extended to fit even more messages on screen.

Right Click:

Right clicking in the chat screen will open a menu that allows you to copy chat messages, edit the chat window, and add new tabs.

How to Install Chat Tabs on Your Server

Order Server

Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).

Set fabric Loader

In the panel under "Egg", select the fabric loader and matching Minecraft version (26.2).

Install Mod

Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Chat Tabs". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Chat Tabs server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (26.2). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Chat Tabs compatible with fabric?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Chat Tabs consumes the most tick time.
