About this Mod
PLEASE USE SOMETHING LIKE Roughly Enough Items INSTEAD
I don't have the time to develop mods anymore and I lost interest years ago when all my friends moved on from this game and therefore I lost my motivation to make mods for them. Sorry.
Adds a search bar to chests so you can see where an item is more easily (see gallery?). Only requires fabric loader, fabric api is not necessary.
So originally this was made because I thought that Roughly Enough Items didn't have such a feature for this like Just Enough Items did, but as it turns out I just forgot you had to double-click for that. So if you already have REI you don't need this.
Well, the remaining use case is people like me who don't want the entire REI gui on their screen and just a search. Also might be useful if you don't want to install Fabric API for whatever reason.

Chest Search server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.18.2). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Chest Search compatible with fabric?
Chest Search officially supports fabric for Minecraft 1.18.2. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Chest Search – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Chest Search consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
