About this Mod
Chopt makes tree-felling balanced and simple. Just keep chopping a progressively shrinking log and the whole tree will eventually come down!
The goal is to make timbering feel more vanilla-friendly, avoiding the overpowered feel of traditional timber mods.
How to use
- Install on both the client and server (if playing multiplayer)
- Walk up to a tree and break a log — it’ll pop right back, but smaller. Keep chopping that shrinking log until the whole tree falls!
- Exceptionally large trees can require up to 32 swings, and trees can scale up to 256 logs.
- Multiple players can contribute to the chopping progress.
- All players will see the log chunk get smaller and smaller with each hit.
- There’s no timer or decay — take a break, log out, come back later, and finish the tree whenever you want.
- Hold Shift to chop normally if you only want a single log, or to back out of timbering and collect the logs you've already chopped off.
- All enchantments and durability are applied exactly as if you had hand-chopped each log one by one, keeping it fully balanced and mostly vanilla.
- Developers can tag their woods with
minecraft:logs(or the commonc:logstag if they prefer) and Chopt will automatically support them.

Server lagging with Chopt – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Chopt consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
