Complications
Add some new texture to your gameplay with situational tradeoffs.
About this Mod
Complications offer a way to add variety to your Minecraft experience with conditional bonuses and penalties. They're meant to invite you to look at your environment and how you engage with it in new ways - for example, with the Aquatic complication you'll be much more comfortable underwater than on land, and if you're Nocturnal then it'll be easier to see at night than in the daytime.

The base mod currently features seven Complications: Aquatic, Photosynthetic, Nocturnal, Blazefury, Deepdweller, Hyperactive, and Shulky. You can activate as many or as few as you like, and more can easily be added with a supplemental datapack or a command - create your own circumstantial triggers with predicates, and have them activate any effects in the game when fulfilled. The mod does a lot of the work for you - once you're set up, adding an additional Complication takes only a single line of code! (Check out the example addon pack here to get started.)
Part of the ✨Comfy Improvements series. Inclusion in modpacks is encouraged.

Most common cause: wrong datapack version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.4). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Complications officially supports datapack, fabric, forge, neoforge, quilt for Minecraft 1.21.4, 1.21.3, 1.21.2. Note: Forge and Fabric mods are NOT cross-compatible – pick one loader and stick with it. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Complications – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Complications consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
