About this Mod
Copper Golem Helpers (CGH)
Yes, give them a pickaxe and they will mine for you.

Getting started
- Craft the Golem Wand. In a crafting table, fill the middle column top-to-bottom with a Lightning Rod, Redstone Dust, and a Stick.
- Drop a chest where you want the golem to deposit items. The chest is also the golem's "control panel" — every tool you put in there is used live.
- Stock the chest with: 1 Copper Block + 1 Carved Pumpkin per golem you want, plus the tools and materials for the task you've picked.
- Mark your work area by right-clicking blocks with the wand. (Each task has a different marker pattern — see below.)
- Right-click the chest to link it to your selection.
- Shift-right-click the chest to start. A copper golem appears and gets to work.
The mod figures out which task to run from the way you arranged the markers — no menus, no GUIs.
Tasks
⛏ Mining (dig out a big pit)
How to: Right-click any two blocks at opposite corners of the area you want dug — these are your markers. Right-click your chest to link it. Then shift-right-click the chest to start.
Put in the chest: Pickaxes, shovels, copper block(s), carved pumpkin(s), and a stack of cobble or wooden planks for the staircase.
The golem digs the rectangle layer by layer from the top. The outer walls stay up so the pit doesn't cave in, and a spiral staircase grows on the inside as it descends — you can walk down whenever you like.
🚇 Tunnel (long straight hallway)
How to: Right-click two blocks in a straight line — same height, just different X (east-west) or Z (north-south). Link the chest, shift-right-click to start.
Put in the chest: Pickaxe, shovel, copper, pumpkins, and lots of torches.
The golem bores a 1-wide-by-2-tall walkable tunnel and keeps going forever in that direction. Torches are placed automatically to keep mobs out. When torches run out it stops politely; refill and right-click to resume.
🪨 AFK cobblestone loop
How to: Right-click the single block where your cobble generator's output spawns. Link the chest, shift-right-click to start.
Put in the chest: A pickaxe, copper, pumpkins.
The golem mines that one block whenever it regenerates. Works for cobble gens, basalt gens, bamboo farms, sugar cane, kelp — anything that re-grows into a single spot.
🌳 Wood-cutting (tree farm)
How to: Right-click any block near your tree farm. Link the chest, shift-right-click to start.
Put in the chest: Axes, copper, pumpkins, and saplings (so it can replant).
The golem fells whole trees within ~16 blocks of the marker, picks up logs and saplings, and plants new ones. Mega-trees included.
🎣 Fishing
How to: Right-click a barrel that has water within ~8 blocks. (The barrel itself is the anchor — no extra markers needed.) Link the chest, shift-right-click to start.
Put in the chest: Fishing rods, copper, pumpkins. Lure and Luck of the Sea both work.
The golem casts and reels right next to the barrel. Treasure loot is disabled (only fish and junk) — but it's still a steady cod/salmon farm.
🌾 Farming (crops)
How to: Either right-click a composter near your field, OR right-click any farmland / crop block. Link the chest, shift-right-click to start.
Put in the chest: A hoe, copper, pumpkins, and seeds for whatever you're growing (wheat, carrots, potatoes, beetroot, melons, pumpkins, sweet berries).
The golem walks every connected farmland tile, harvests grown crops, replants seeds, and keeps the field tidy. Works on existing fields out of the box — no need to tear anything up.
🌋 Lava Farm (free lava buckets)
How to: Build a vanilla dripstone-over-lava rig that fills cauldrons. Right-click each cauldron with the wand. Link the chest, shift-right-click to start.
Put in the chest: Empty buckets, copper, pumpkins.
When a cauldron fills with lava, the golem grabs it (uses an empty bucket from the chest), drops a full lava bucket back into the chest, and resets the cauldron for the next drip.
💼 Auto shop selling
How to: Right-click each villager workstation you want the golem to trade with — smoker, fletching table, blast furnace, smithing table, brewing stand, cartography table, loom, grindstone, stonecutter, and so on. Link a chest, shift-right-click to start.
Put in the chest: The items you want sold, copper, pumpkins. Emeralds come back automatically.
The golem only works during the day (villagers sleep at night). It hands over items the bound villager actually buys, and the emeralds drop into your chest.
📚 Trade Roller (auto-reroll librarians)
How to: Right-click a lectern with the wand. (Click any one lectern in a trading hall and all the unlocked ones nearby get added in one go.) Link a chest, shift-right-click to start.
Put in the chest: A written book titled exactly "Want to Buy" that lists the enchanted books you're after, plus emeralds, paper, books, copper, pumpkins, and either loose books or bookshelves (each shelf = 3 books).
The golem watches the librarian's trades, breaks and replaces the lectern to reroll, and stops when one of your wishlist enchants shows up. It auto-buys matches too. Open the book at any time — found enchants are highlighted in lime-green, still-rolling ones in red.
🤖 Programmable golem
How to: Right-click a lectern. Link a chest, shift-right-click to start.
Put in the chest: A written book titled exactly "Program" with your script, plus copper, pumpkins, and any tools or blocks the script will use.
You write a small, readable script — like:
mine forward 8
turn around
deposit
when sees_ore: mine end
repeat 4:
mine forward 16
turn right
end
…and the golem follows it. After you start the job, shift-right-click the chest again to get a clickable link to an in-browser code editor with autocomplete, syntax highlighting, and saved programs — much friendlier than typing into a book.
🏔 Cave expedition (advanced)
The golem heads into caves and mines exposed ores; armor reduces damage and copper ingots heal. This task is currently set up with a debug command — drop into the Discord if you want to try it.
Tips
- Light it up. Golems mine slower in the dark. A few torches in the chest go a long way.
- Better tools = faster work. Diamond and netherite pickaxes mine faster than stone or iron. Efficiency, Unbreaking, Fortune, and Silk Touch all behave normally.
- Mending repairs tools in the chest. Pop a Mending pickaxe in and it patches itself up from the XP the golem earns while breaking blocks (you don't see the XP — it goes straight into tool repair).
- Wax your golem with a honeycomb (right-click the golem) to lock its oxidation. Otherwise it slowly weathers from shiny to green over many in-game days, and the matching copper block in the chest weathers along with it. Fully-oxidised copper blocks can't spawn new golems — keep the chest stocked with fresh copper if you're not waxing.
- Hopper-friendly. Hoppers attached to the linked chest get filled first, so you can pipe drops straight to your sorter.
- One wand, many jobs. A single wand can run multiple golem operations across the Overworld, Nether, and End at the same time. Right-click in the air to see every active job.
Please note that this is an Alpha version. If you encounter any bugs please use my discord server to report them or see if they're already reported. https://discord.gg/ZdW9KDnqEW
That's it!
Future plans
If this mod gets more than 1000 downloads, I will continue developing it.
I hope to make copper golems great for AFK activities like cobblestone machines, Farming, or even building. Of course they're small and slow in an attempt to emulate the clash of clans style real world timer.
