Features

  • Lost Souls can bring crops to life. Each crop critter can help your farm or be a nuisance to take care of
    • Also lets you bring life back to slime blocks
  • Weeds can grow and take over your farm. Different soils, biomes, and events can result in different weeds with unique effects
  • The Lost Soul in a Bottle can help you know when weeds have appeared nearby
  • Bushes can be grown and trimmed
  • Strange fertilizer can revive coral and grow randoms plants
  • Seed Balls can help plant fields faster, or be used as a weapon
    • Crafting the seed ball with different seeds lets you choose what to plant
    • Poisonous potatoes add poison to the ball
  • The Soul Rose, a multi-block with 3 unique powerful effects
  • Crops suck nutrients from the ground when they mature
  • Crops can be placed on most normal plant-friendly blocks

If you are a modpack maker, the mod should work with other farming mods, and most functionality uses tags that can be extended as needed.

NOTE: There is a minor graphical issue with some shaders (BSL & Bliss)

How to Install Crop Critters on Your Server

Order Server

Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).

Set fabric Loader

In the panel under "Egg", select the fabric loader and matching Minecraft version (26.1.2).

Install Mod

Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Crop Critters". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Frequently Asked Questions

Crop Critters server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (26.1.2). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Crop Critters compatible with fabric and forge and neoforge?

Crop Critters officially supports fabric, forge, neoforge for Minecraft 26.1.2, 1.21.11, 1.21.10. Note: Forge and Fabric mods are NOT cross-compatible – pick one loader and stick with it. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Crop Critters – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Crop Critters consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
