This is a teeny-tiny mod that prevents items from despawning if they were dropped as a result of a player death.
(It does this, if you're interested, by adding Age: -32768 to the item entitiy NBT)

How to Install Don't Do Death Despawn on Your Server
Order Server
Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).
Set fabric Loader
In the panel under "Egg", select the fabric loader and matching Minecraft version (1.18).
Install Mod
Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Don't Do Death Despawn". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.
