About this Mod

Death Recap

Never lose your items again. When you die, Death Recap shows you exactly where it happened and guides you back.

Features

Death Screen Overlay

When you die, an info panel appears showing:

  • Exact coordinates (X, Y, Z)
  • Dimension (Overworld / Nether / End)
  • Biome
  • Items you had at the time of death

Recovery Compass HUD

After respawning, a compact HUD appears at the top of your screen:

  • Directional arrow pointing toward your death location
  • Distance in blocks
  • Despawn countdown timer (5:00 → 0:00)
  • Auto-dismisses when you arrive within 5 blocks

Death History Log

Press H to open a full history of your past deaths:

  • Scrollable list of up to 50 deaths per world
  • Shows cause, coordinates, dimension, biome, and time
  • Click any entry and set it as a compass waypoint
  • Saved between sessions

How to Install Death Recap on Your Server

Order Server

Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).

Set fabric Loader

In the panel under "Egg", select the fabric loader and matching Minecraft version (26.1.2).

Install Mod

Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Death Recap". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Frequently Asked Questions

Death Recap server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (26.1.2). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Death Recap compatible with fabric?

Death Recap officially supports fabric for Minecraft 26.1.2, 1.21.11. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Death Recap – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Death Recap consumes the most tick time.
