Deft Safe Step
This mod prevents u from taking those gnarly accidental falls
About this Mod
Deft Safe Step is a tiny movement safeguard that helps prevent accidental drops while walking along cliffs, scaffolds, or cave ledges. It detects when your next step would be a fall of several blocks and gently intervenes to keep you safe without getting in the way of normal parkour or Elytra flight. It’s designed as a subtle, player-friendly safety net rather than a hard movement lock.
Features
Fall prediction: Continuously checks the block edge ahead of you and estimates the drop height before you step off, triggering only when the fall exceeds a configurable threshold.
Gentle intervention: Briefly dampens forward movement and clears fall distance to avoid sudden plummets, keeping exploration smooth and natural.
Context aware: Automatically disables when flying, gliding with Elytra, sneaking carefully, or in creative/spectator modes to avoid interfering with intentional movement.
Configuration
Threshold: Choose the minimum drop height (e.g., 2 blocks) that should trigger protection.
Modes: Pick between velocity dampening or short safety buffering that resets fall distance on the edge.
Exclusions: Disable in specific worlds or dimensions, or when certain conditions are active.
Compatibility
Designed to be lightweight and event/tick-driven, avoiding invasive hooks for broad version tolerance.
Plays nicely with common survival/server setups and leaves parkour and Elytra gameplay untouched by default.
Getting started
Install, restart, and walk near ledges as usual; Deft Safe Step will step in when a risky drop is detected. Adjust the threshold and behavior in the config to match your server’s vibe.
Notes
This is a quality-of-life helper, not a cheat: it reduces accidental slips but won’t save you from deliberate jumps or high-speed lunges.
If you pair it with other movement or anti-fall plugins, ensure settings don’t conflict to prevent double handling.
