About this Mod

Deft Tool Switch

Deft Tool Switch is a lightweight QoL tweak that automatically swaps to the best tool in your hotbar when you start mining a block, so you can focus on digging, chopping, and clearing without constant scrolling. It prefers the correct tool type and can prioritize enchants like Efficiency or Silk Touch/Fortune based on your settings.

Features

Auto-selects the most suitable tool for the targeted block as soon as you left‑click to mine, reducing friction during large excavations and tree clearing.

Respects sneaking to temporarily pause switching when you want manual control for a moment.

Optional switch‑back after the block breaks to return you to your previous slot for smooth workflows.

Important limitations

You must keep the relevant mining tools in your hotbar; switching only considers those 9 slots. Place your pickaxe, axe, shovel, hoe, and shears in the hotbar for best results.

Some servers may treat automatic tool switching as an unfair advantage similar to macros; usage can violate server rules and may result in punishment or bans. Use at your own risk and verify the policy of the server you play on.

Configuration

Toggle switch‑back behavior, sneak‑to‑disable, and whether to prefer Silk Touch or Fortune when both are available.

Maintain a simple block blacklist to avoid switching on specific materials.

Compatibility

Works well alongside typical client QoL setups and server environments that allow automatic tool switching; always check the server’s rules before enabling.

Event‑driven implementation designed for broad tolerance across supported versions without invasive hooks.

Getting started

Put your mining tools in the hotbar and start breaking blocks; Deft Tool Switch will pick the right tool automatically. Sneak to temporarily suppress switching when needed.
