About this Mod
Description
Demanding Saplings is a mod for Fabric and Quilt that changes how saplings grow by limiting them to specific biomes and temperatures ranges.
This mod uses Minecraft's already existing biome temperature system and also a height mechanic for more dynamic values on higher altitudes.
Requires Cloth Config API
Features
If a sapling is placed on a temperature outside of its compatible range, it will perish into 1 of 3 different dead bushes, if the temperature is way too high for the sapling, it will become into a vanilla dead bush, if the temperature is slightly off, it will become a dead sapling, and if the temperature is way too cold, it will become a frozen bush.
Adds a thermometer that lets you check for the temperature in a given biome so you know if it is compatible with the tree you want to grow.
The thermometer item has 4 modes for displaying the temperature:
- SIMPLE: Simple mode that only displays very simple measurements: "Freezing", "Cold", "Temper", "Hot", "Burning" (Default mode)
- CELSIUS ONLY: Only displays Celsiues degrees
- FAHRENHEIT ONLY: Only displays Fahrenheit degrees
- CELSIUS AND FAHRENHEIT: Displays both Celsius and Fahrenheit degrees
Thermometers' texture changes dynamically depending on the temperature it's located.
Dead Saplings can be used as fuel and they burn 0.5 items per dead sapling.
Frozen Bushes can be used as fuel and they burn 0.25 items per frozen bush.
If the temperature is slightly off from the sapling's limit it has a chance to grow the sapling into a tree, the farther it gets from the limit, the chance of dying increases.
Saplings in general only grow in the overworld, if placed on the nether they'll become a dead bush and if placed in the end they'll become a frozen bush, regardless of the temperature output.
Nether fungus trees can only grow on the nether, if one is attempted to be grown on a different dimension, it will become a dead fungus.
You can change the saplings' temperature minimum and maximum limits within the mod's config file.
This mod is already compatible with a few biome mods out there for fabric 1.20 as well as Fabric seasons mod. Currently trying to properly test with mods that also include new trees and saplings.
This mod was originally created for the Create: Steam n' Rails community server season 2 but I decided to also publish it for everybody as it is an interesting challenge for everybody who wants to expand their lumbering facilities to a new level.
Any feedback to improve the mod is appreciated <3
