About this Mod
Ecotones is a biome overhaul mod for Fabric that attempts to capture the essence of the real world's flora by filling each biome with life, where each generated tree, shrub, and rock is unique in where it generates and the shape. The end result is biome generation that feels natural and incredibly diverse, where even the same biome can feel different from one corner to the other. Currently, the mod adds over 70 distinct biomes, or over 200 when considering variants.
To use this mod, you need to use the "Ecotones" world type when making a new world, or set "level-type=ecotones" when making a new server.

Mod compatibility
Ecotones includes explicit compat for these mods:

Available Versions
How to Install Ecotones on Your Server
Order Server
Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 4 GB RAM (6 GB recommended).
Set fabric Loader
In the panel under "Egg", select the fabric loader and matching Minecraft version (1.20.1).
Install Mod
Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Ecotones". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Ecotones server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 4 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.20.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Ecotones compatible with fabric and quilt?
Ecotones officially supports fabric, quilt for Minecraft 1.20.1, 1.20, 1.19.2. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Ecotones – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 6 GB (per 5 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Ecotones consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
