Lighting bases with the power of Forge Energy!

NOTICE: There are only two official download sources for Electric Lighting, on
Modrinth &
Codeberg, any other sources are illegitimate and should
not be trusted!

(Modpacks are a-okay, just don't try to sell Electric Lighting for money or publish/redistribute Electric Lighting by itself somewhere—a year passed before I thought to myself "oh, that might potentially sound like I'm targeting modpacks"; I'm not, my bad.)

You've finally built your base on the moon. Your generator hums along nicely, and your on-site factory—fueling your ethically-questionable actions—is powered using modern electricity. You take a step back and take a deep breath in. But, wait, you're still using torches?! I mean, they do the job quite well—all you truly need is some lights, after all. But, well, you're a (not) evil villain on the moon; these torches cramp your style, and you simply won't stand for it!

Introducing... Electric Lighting!

Electric Lighting adds in 16 new light blocks, for each vanilla color variant, that are all powered by Forge Energy! Now when your starship runs out of power (because you forgot to refuel), your lights go out along with the power! Adding to the immersion, but mostly making everything dark.

Electric Lamps have three blinking settings (fast, medium, slow) that can be toggled by right-clicking on the block. Each blink state can be disabled via a server-side config.

Recipes

Frequently Asked Questions

Electric Lighting server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong forge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.18.2). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Electric Lighting compatible with forge?

Electric Lighting officially supports forge for Minecraft 1.18.2, 1.17.1, 1.16.5. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Electric Lighting – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Electric Lighting consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
