About this Mod

Entity Glow

This mod is a simple backport of 1.9+'s entity glow/outline feature. The code exists in 1.8.9 but isn't used in the same way. In 1.8, you need to be in spectator and pressing a specific keybind. However, servers (or at the least Hypixel), sends the necessary information about player entities (and possibly more), so we can add a check and properly render their glow. Unfortunately, the item NBT data is not sent to 1.8.9 clients.

As of 1.0.2, there is now an option to force outlines to render for teammates.

How to Install Entity Glow (Backport) on Your Server

Order Server

Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).

Set forge Loader

In the panel under "Egg", select the forge loader and matching Minecraft version (1.8.9).

Install Mod

Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Entity Glow (Backport)". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.
