About this Mod
Adaptive Difficulty (Fabric Port)
Fabric Port of Adaptive Difficulty by spiderman31807.
What This Mod Does
Adaptive Difficulty allows each player to choose their own personal difficulty level independently of the world difficulty. The world difficulty still controls mob spawning, loot drops, and other global mechanics—this mod only adjusts player-specific combat and survival mechanics.
Difficulty Levels
- Peaceful: No damage from hostile mobs, no hunger drain, 50% XP from kills
- Easy: 50% damage from hostile mobs, can't starve to death, 75% XP from kills
- Normal: Vanilla experience (default)
- Hard: 150% damage from mobs, 125% XP from kills, 125% hunger drain, slightly better TieredZ modifier chances
- Nightmare: 250% damage from mobs, 200% XP from kills, 200% hunger drain, better TieredZ modifier chances
Features Ported from Original
- Damage scaling per difficulty
- Starvation behavior per difficulty
New Features in This Port
- Admin-only difficulty changes: Only server operators can change player difficulties, preventing abuse
- XP rewards: Players on harder difficulties earn bonus XP to reward the challenge
- TieredZ integration: Higher difficulties increase chances for better tool modifiers (requires TieredZ mod)
- Increased hunger drain: Hard and Nightmare difficulties require significantly more food
Commands
/adaptive- View your current difficulty (by default Normal)/adaptive <player> <difficulty>- Set specific player's difficulty (OP only)
Optional Dependency
TieredZ - Enhances the mod with improved reforge modifier chances at higher difficulties
Notes
World difficulty still controls mob spawning, loot drops, and other vanilla mechanics. This mod only affects individual player damage, hunger, and XP rates.
