About this Mod

Falling Trees Datapack

A realistic tree-cutting datapack with physics-based falling animations for Minecraft!

Features

🌲 Realistic Tree Physics

Trees fall with realistic physics when you break the bottom log! Watch as the tree rotates and falls in the direction away from you, with leaves deforming on impact.

🍃 Natural Leaf Drops

Leaves drop realistic items just like vanilla Minecraft:

  • Saplings (5% chance for most trees, 2.5% for jungle)
  • Sticks (2% chance)
  • Apples from oak and dark oak trees (0.5% chance)
  • Mangrove Propagules from mangrove trees

⚙️ Fully Configurable

Easy-to-use settings menu with clickable options:

menu

Available Settings:

  • Break Leaves - Toggle automatic leaf breaking (ON/OFF)
  • Sneak to Cut - Require sneaking to cut trees (ON/OFF, default: ON)
  • Physics - Enable realistic falling animation (ON/OFF, default: ON)
  • Logs Limit - Maximum logs to break (50/100/200)
  • Leaves Limit - Maximum leaves to break (100/200/500)

Access settings with: /function falling_tree:settings/menu

🎯 Smart Detection

  • Automatically detects all tree types
  • Handles big trees (2x2 trunks)
  • Validates tree structure (requires leaves nearby)
  • Only works when using an axe

How to Use

Default Mode (Sneak to Cut: ON)

  1. Hold any axe
  2. Sneak (Shift) while breaking the bottom log of a tree
  3. Watch the tree fall with physics!

Always Cut Mode (Sneak to Cut: OFF)

  1. Hold any axe
  2. Break the bottom log of a tree
  3. Tree automatically falls

Performance

  • Optimized for multiplayer servers
  • Configurable limits to prevent lag
  • Efficient block scanning algorithm
  • No constant tick overhead (only runs when trees are cut)

Compatibility

  • Minecraft Version: 1.21+
  • Multiplayer: ✅ Fully compatible
  • Other Datapacks: ✅ Should work with most datapacks
  • Vanilla Friendly: ✅ No resource pack required

Frequently Asked Questions

Falling tree server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong datapack version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (26.1.2). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Falling tree compatible with datapack and fabric and forge and neoforge and quilt?

Falling tree officially supports datapack, fabric, forge, neoforge, quilt for Minecraft 26.1.2, 26.1.1, 26.1. Note: Forge and Fabric mods are NOT cross-compatible – pick one loader and stick with it. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Falling tree – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Falling tree consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
