About this Mod

Fearful Mobs

Have you ever had one of those moments?

You are already wearing a full set of overpowered gear, holding a top-tier weapon, carrying a backpack full of resources, and even the Ender Dragon and the Wither no longer feel like major threats. But as soon as night falls, zombies, skeletons, creepers, drowned, and every other hostile mob still rush at you as if nothing has changed.

Come on. I am already fully geared. You mobs are getting wiped out by me over and over again. Could you please stop bothering me?

Fearful Mobs was created around that exact idea.

When a player kills enough hostile mobs of the same type within one life, that mob type will begin to “fear” that player. Instead of blindly charging in like before, those mobs will stop actively attacking and try to move away from the player.

However, fear does not mean they have completely given up. After a configurable amount of time, that mob group will send a stronger “Rebel” to come after you.

Main Features

  • Hostile mobs of the same type track how many times a player has killed them.
  • Once the kill count reaches the configured threshold, that mob type begins to fear the player.
  • Ordinary mobs that fear the player will drop their attack target and try to flee.
  • After a delay, the same mob type can spawn a stronger Rebel.
  • Rebels may receive random equipment, enchanted gear, and stat upgrades.
  • The more same-type Rebels a player defeats, the stronger future Rebels usually become.
  • If a Rebel kills the player, that mob type regains its courage and the fear state is cleared.
  • Bosses such as the Ender Dragon and the Wither do not participate in the fear or Rebel systems.

Rebel System

When mobs begin to fear the player, they will not run forever.

After the configured delay, that mob type will send out a Rebel. A Rebel is still the same kind of mob, but it is more dangerous than a normal one:

  • It may gain increased health.
  • It may gain increased attack damage.
  • It may gain increased armor.
  • It may carry weapons or armor.
  • Its equipment may be randomly enchanted.
  • For mobs that are not suitable for visible equipment, death may create a short lingering effect cloud.

If you defeat a Rebel, that mob type will still fear you, but future Rebels of the same type may become stronger.

If a Rebel kills you, that mob type believes it has regained its courage, and the corresponding fear state is removed.
