About this Mod
Notice: I am currently working on porting to multiplatform, the old repository is https://github.com/hauveli/fishcasting_old.
Hopefully I can figure out publishing via Github Actions tomorrow.
A small 1.21.1 interoperability mod for Tide and Hex Casting.
Still in alpha! Full release soon-ish...
Read the Hex Notebook! Now with a hexdoc-wiki! (which is also in the hexbook!)
Alternative demo in the dropdown. Much slower than the featured one but shows off Length Purif. and HUD change.
List of Additions and changes
Crystal Fishing Rod renamed to Crystal Casting Rod and cost changed to Charged Amethyst
Crystal Casting Rod can open the hexcasting grid
Amethyst Bobber cost changed to Crystalline Carp
Amethyst Bobber now executes stored Hex on reel (so cool...)
Unlucky Bait which prevents fish from ever biting
Loud Line which prevents certain mobs from attacking you when line is cast
Hookless Hook which prevents your thrown bobber from getting caught on entities
Tacklebox Chair which automatically buckets, or otherwise takes a seated player's recently caught fish into its own inventory. (It's nice!)
Message in a Bottle left by fishers long gone. Contains some random junk and some random tresaure! It is quite rare and won't be the easiest way to progress, but at least it will be an option. Found in warm ocean biomes.
Blessed Bobber which adds a very low chance (<0.1%) to reel a random catch from a combined pool of all fish, crates and loot at equal distribution
Blessed Bobber acts the same as the Amethyst Bobber now does otherwise
Royalty-Free Music Disc added, "Returning To The Surface" by "cookies+policy" on freesound.org
Fish added (half-implemented)
Another casting rod as an upgrade to the Crystal Casting Rod, without durability
Various recipe additions and changes, intended to allow for more routes of progression without invalidating the current progression. (Please tell me if some of these recipe changes/additions are something that I should disable because I have not published a mod like this before.)

As this is an early release, I am still missing a few features I'd like to add eventually.
The features I still wish to implement with certainty are two mobs to facilitate hexcasting progression in a more immersive and maybe fun way, and figuring out how to make the Config work the way I'd like it to work.
Feedback regarding recipes is welcome, please open a github issue and I am quite likely to make changes based on provided feedback.
A fabric port will happen for sure, but is a low priority for now (Aeronautics wow!). I am just a big noob and need a proper 1.21.1 template because I couldn't figure out how to set up Hex Casting properly. I'm lucky I got it working in the first place.
A 1.20.1 backport is a maybe and would happen after I finish my other more involved 1.20.1 mod. Seeing as Hex Casting may be getting a port to 1.21.1 sooner rather than later, it may be that I do not backport this mod, I will update this page when I've made up my mind.

Fishcasting server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong neoforge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Fishcasting compatible with neoforge?
Fishcasting officially supports neoforge for Minecraft 1.21.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Fishcasting – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Fishcasting consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
