Makes Polar Bears more ambient and gives them a use by letting them fish on ice.

Server-Side only, and works without fabric API.

Polar Bear Fishing and Eating the fish

A polar bear "fishing" and eating the fish. This heals them for 1 heart. They will do this 2/3rds of the time they catch a fish.

Polar Bear Dropping The Fish

A polar bear dropping the fish.  They will do this 1/3rds of the time they catch a fish. If they catch any item that's not a fish they also drop it. (They use the fishing loot table which you can see here)

Polar bears don't fish IRL(Unless they're desperate or they find dead fish) unlike their grizzly cousins, I just thought this would be a cool feature for Minecraft :P

Frequently Asked Questions

Fishy Bears server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.17). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Fishy Bears compatible with fabric and forge?

Fishy Bears officially supports fabric, forge for Minecraft 1.17, 1.16.5, 1.16.4. Note: Forge and Fabric mods are NOT cross-compatible – pick one loader and stick with it. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Fishy Bears – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Fishy Bears consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
