About this Mod

This mod effectively replaces Raw Iron, Raw Copper and Raw Gold with new blocks that resemble the ores they came from, but do not drop any extra when mined with fortune. Naturally generating ore blocks are not changed at all, and are simply renamed to "Untouched Ore" to distinguish them as ores obtained via silk touch or spawned in.

If removing this mod, please be aware that all modded ore blocks (fortunateores:<ore here>) will be removed, and your hard-earned resources will be lost!

This is my first mod, and I don't currently have any plans to port it to forge or any other versions, but anyone else is free to do so if they want!

How to Install Fortunate Ores on Your Server

Order Server

Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).

Set fabric Loader

In the panel under "Egg", select the fabric loader and matching Minecraft version (1.18.2).

Install Mod

Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Fortunate Ores". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Fortunate Ores server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.18.2). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Fortunate Ores compatible with fabric?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Fortunate Ores consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
