About this Mod

Craft torches which prevent snow acculumation and water freezing in a large radius. (This works for preventing it from Serene Seasons winter, too.)

The recipe is shapeless - a single blaze powder, and at least one torch. The more torches you use, the more resulting torches you get, but the smaller radius they affect.

What the torches look like

(The following screenshot still has snow/ice because it doesn't remove existing snow/ice beyond what a normal torch would - it only prevents new snow/ice, so that you can still handplace some in the affected area.)
What each torch looks like (except the weakest one I accidentally broke before taking this picture).

Range Example

All radius values are square, not circular.

(The following images are from before I fixed the block model, the previous image is what they look like in game.)

The affected area for a radius of 8 (before I fixed the block model).

The affected area for a radius of 32 (before I fixed the block model).

Frequently Asked Questions

Freeze Block server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong neoforge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Freeze Block compatible with neoforge?

Freeze Block officially supports neoforge for Minecraft 1.21.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Freeze Block – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Freeze Block consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
