About this Mod
Allows you to pick up mobs as items by Shift+right clicking them (crouch+use).
You can place the mob back in the world by using it on the ground, or dropping it (configurable).
As a bonus, you can also wear them on your head!
By default, you must have empty hands, and only animals that are smaller than 2x2 blocks can be picked up, but you can configure all of these parameters.
Configuration
Configuration should match between server and client to avoid visual glitches. Install McQoy for a config GUI.

Entity Restriction
Players can never be picked up.

How to Install gently holds on Your Server
Order Server
Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).
Set fabric Loader
In the panel under "Egg", select the fabric loader and matching Minecraft version (26.2).
Install Mod
Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "gently holds". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

gently holds server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (26.2). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is gently holds compatible with fabric and quilt?
gently holds officially supports fabric, quilt for Minecraft 26.2, 26.2-rc-2, 26.2-rc-1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with gently holds – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if gently holds consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
