About this Mod

GAME ICON CHANGER (GIC)

Game Icon Changer is a utility mod for Fabric that gives you control over your Minecraft window icon. Instead of messing with internal files or complex resource packs, this mod allows you to swap the icon through your config folder.

🖥️ FEATURES

Easy Customization: Just drop a PNG file into the folder and you are done.

Smart Fallback: If no custom image is found, the mod loads a default icon from its own assets.

Performance: Designed to be minimal and fast without slowing down game startup.

🖼️ HOW TO SET YOUR OWN ICON

  1. Start Minecraft with the mod installed at least once to generate the config folders.

  2. Go to your Minecraft instance folder and open the config directory.

  3. Find and open the folder named GIC.

  4. Choose any square PNG image (512x512 pixels is recommended for high quality).

  5. Rename your image to "icon.png" (make sure the filename is all lowercase).

  6. Place the icon.png file into the config/GIC folder.

  7. Restart the game to see your new icon in the taskbar and window frame.

🛠️ TECHNICAL INFO

This mod is built for Fabric and requires the Fabric API. If you are using Linux, please note that the icon might not change if you are running a Wayland session, as many Wayland environments do not allow applications to set their own icons manually.
