About this Mod
Handbook
Datapack-driven in-game documentation for Minecraft mods. For mod and modpack
developers who are tired of not being able to support the latest versions, as
Patchouli and other derivatives often take six months or longer to update, or
only supports a single modloader.
This mod exists specifically to support the latest versions of Minecraft and
is very focused on in-game mod content. There is a robust datagen API that
lets mod developers maintain book content without manually editing and curating
JSON files, making it easy to update to new Minecraft versions. Examples of
this in action are for
Homeostatic
and
Survivalist Essentials
To be clear, this mod is a fork of
Patchouli
and
Patchouli Provider.
It is recommended to use those as a first alternative if they exist for the target
Minecraft version you are modding for. This exists only to move forward without waiting.

Handbook server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (26.1.2). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Handbook compatible with fabric and neoforge?
Handbook officially supports fabric, neoforge for Minecraft 26.1.2, 26.1.1, 26.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Handbook – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Handbook consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
