About this Mod

Now on Station API Alpha 5.2!

Structured progression

Nether portal with the full structural requirement. It has four corner blocks of chiseled obsidian, active engraved obsidian at both entry sides, and a base of obsidian glass with lava below
The mod has been structured into multiple ages of technology, each introducing a new challenge to overcome. The idea is to make the process of reaching the Nether a lot more involved by expanding upon features of the Vanilla game which have a lot of unused potential. The start of the game is completely unchanged, punching a tree still is the first logical step. The changes have an impact after wooden tools are crafted. The current ages are as follows: Wood -> Stone -> Iron -> Gold -> Lapis -> Diamond -> Nether

Changes to the Vanilla game

Harder tool recipes

Stone tools require hemp fibers which involves farming hemp. This means wooden tools stay relevant for a while and it is sensible to quickly build up a big hemp farm.

Iron tools require moulding on top of hemp fibers. Better Than Wolves sees a lot of its progression becoming relevant here. A saw and a windmill for the saw are required in order to produce moulding. Leather tanning needs to be done as well.

Gold tools have a varying amount of exotic ingredients. One gold tool unlocks the next which then again unlocks more of them until all have been crafted.

Diamond tools are made in a mystical infuser and require diamond ingots instead of just diamonds. They can also be recycled in the crucible.

Harder ore processing

Iron and gold ore need to be milled in a mill stone. Smelting them requires a metal forge multi-block, see more in the machines category below. Both can also be sifted with a rotary sieve to get slightly improved ore efficiency. Gold requires sifting in order to be smelted.

Specialized golden tools

Each golden tool and the gold sword have a special purpose. They are needed to obtain exotic ingredients for higher tier materials. They can be upgraded with a diamond ingot for higher durability variants.

New machines

A machine room with various machines from the mod and additional structures to make their handling easier

Metal forge

Capable of smelting iron, gold, and some other resources. All valid input blocks are falling blocks which means larger batches of smelting can be semi-automated. Built with the metal forge as a base and four stone brick blocks surrounding an air block above the main block. A fire is needed from below which can be created with a fire pile, an early game option for long lasting fire which needs to be reloaded with wooden planks and can be lit with a torch. Stoked fire speeds up the smelting process.

Rotary sieve

Takes in resources from the top and shoots them out at the sides as sifted outputs. Requires a turntable below to spin it up and make it sift. All ingredients are falling blocks so automation is possible.

Monster siphon

Used for siphoning the energy from mob spawners and charging mystical rocks with it. This machine is very important for going past the gold age and powering the mystical infuser.

Mystical infuser

A hybrid of a crafting table and a magic machine, this workstation fuses machines and tools with the energy from mystical rocks. Requires a 5x5 floor of mystical infuser base blocks and four pillars of four block tall bookshelves in the corners.

Mystical devourer

A specialized block dispenser capable of all special abilities golden tools have on top of a new ability to produce engraved obsidian.

Diamond drill

A drill for breaking obsidian into smaller chunks, needed for chiseled obsidian and can be used to craft other obsidian blocks more efficiently.

Reinforced mill stone and reinforced saw

Specializations of the BTW machines which can not craft the regular recipes but can produce new components otherwise not possible.
