About this Mod
Improved Wolf AI
Wolves in vanilla are kind of useless. They attack stuff, sure, but then they just stand there while the loot despawns. This mod fixes that.
Features
Smart Hunting - Wolves stop attacking once the target is dead. No more watching your wolf lunge at a corpse.
Meat Collection - After a kill, your wolf grabs the meat and brings it back to you.
Hostile Detection - Your wolf growls when hostile mobs are nearby. Works as an early warning system in caves or at night.
Item Fetching - Crouch and your wolf will fetch nearby item drops and bring them to you. Useful for cleaning up after a fight.
How It Works
- Wolves still fight normally, they just stop when the job is done
- Crouch to signal your wolf to fetch items, stand up to cancel
- Growling doesn't interrupt combat or other behaviors
- Items are visually shown in the wolf's mouth while carrying
Config
Everything can be toggled or adjusted in the config file:
- Enable/disable any feature
- Adjust detection ranges
- Change fetch behavior (crouch-only or always active)
- Tweak timing for growls and fetching
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.20.1
- Forge 47.0.0+
Notes
- Only affects tamed wolves
- Sitting wolves won't fetch, growl, or hunt
- Should work fine with other mods unless they completely overwrite wolf AI
