About this Mod
Summary
Semi-hardcore is a Minecraft mod that lets you set up player lives and health penalty on death. Hardcore but if you had more than one life.
This mod requires InsaneLib
The mod
By default, you start with 5 hearts and 6 lives. Each time you die, you gain 1 heart, up to the normal 10, but, at which point, you'll have only one life left.
Please note that this only works in Survival. In Hardcore you still have 1 life.
A command is available to manipulate lives / max health or to opt out of the lives and max health mechanics. /semihardcore <player> lives <get/set/add> <amount> /semihardcore <player> health <get/set/add> <amount> /semihardcore <player> optout <true/false>
The mod also has some mcfunctions integrated to add and remove lives/health via commands / advancements reward.semihardcore:gain_hearth: Give 2 max health to the player.semihardcore:lose_hearth: Remove 2 max health from the player.semihardcore:gain_life: Give 1 life to the player.semihardcore:lose_life: Remove 1 life from the player.

How to Install Semi-Hardcore on Your Server
Order Server
Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).
Set forge Loader
In the panel under "Egg", select the forge loader and matching Minecraft version (1.20.1).
Install Mod
Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Semi-Hardcore". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Semi-Hardcore server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong forge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.20.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Semi-Hardcore compatible with forge?
Semi-Hardcore officially supports forge for Minecraft 1.20.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Semi-Hardcore – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Semi-Hardcore consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
