Managing vanilla Minecraft keybinds with MaLiLib
About this Mod
MaLiBind
MaLiBind makes key bindings feel intentional. It imports vanilla Minecraft keybinds into MaLiLib's configuration system, so you can manage every hotkey with MaLiLib's polished UI and powerful backend. It's lightweight, respectful of vanilla behavior, and designed to give players and modders clear, flexible control.
What MaLiBind gives you
- Clean organization — group related hotkeys together and keep your controls tidy.
- Powerful triggers — one key can do more thanks to configurable trigger settings.
- Minimal footprint — no invasive changes; only a small accessor mixin where necessary.
Requirements
- Minecraft >=1.21
- MaLiLib for your Minecraft version
- Fabric Language Kotlin >= 1.11.0+kotlin.2.0.0
- Fabric Loader compatible with MaLiLib
- (Optional) Mod Menu compatible with MaLiLib
Quick start
- Open MaLiBind's configuration screen (default:
K+B). - Choose a category from the dropdown.
- Hotkeys are initially empty. Use the "Load" button to import the vanilla keybinds.
- Adjust hotkeys and tune their trigger settings.
- Use the "Clear Vanilla" button to remove the original vanilla binding and avoid duplicate triggers.
Make it yours: MaLiBind hands control to you while preserving the familiar vanilla experience.
When to Keep Vanilla Keybinds
Some keybinds may not be fully compatible with MaLiLib's system. For these, it's best to keep the original vanilla keybinds to ensure they work as expected. Examples include:
- Vanilla Minecraft inventory keybinds (
1-9andF) - All JEI's keybinds
- The "Enlarge Minimap" action in Xaero's Minimap (when set to "hold")
For this reason, MaLiBind hides the keybind categories for vanilla inventory and JEI by default. To change this, edit the ignoredCategories list in the Generic tab of the configuration screen.
