About this Mod

Proper Stained Glass

Have you ever thought Minecraft's "stained glass" didn't really resemble the real thing? Have you ever wanted more vibrant stained glass windows for all your cathedral/tudor mansion/gothic revival needs? You've come to the right place.

Rather than replace Minecraft's glass, this mod adds additional so-called "leaded glass panes" to the game. Craft them in all the dye-able colors, and check out the special vertical patterns too. As a bonus, there are also wood-framed glass panes for more rustic builds.

All textures are 16x16.

Most of them exhibit "connected" behavior: identical panes placed near each other will connect. You do NOT need any 3rd party connected textures mod to use these, all you need is this mod.

These panes are based on real world leaded glass patterns, altered to fit Minecraft's aesthetic. For some real world examples, see here: https://www.tudorartisans.com/glasspage.htm

If you want a version that simply replaces Minecraft's glass, check out my Better Stained Glass resource pack: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/texture-packs/better-stained-glass

They're the same textures, but as replacers for vanilla stained glass. Note that you will require either Optifine, Continuity or Fusion for it to work.

FAQ

Is this compatible with Optifine/Sodium/Athena/Connected Textures/Iris/etc etc?

Yes. Again, they're not needed to make this mod work. But they won't conflict, either.

Can you make a 32x32 version?

Too much work, sorry. Not going to happen. Permissions are open though. :)

Why is the crafting recipe so expensive?

I feel like it's balanced: you won't be using too many of these (they're super busy, visually) and they're purely decorative. It also makes sense to me that you would use more dyes, since they're a much more vibrant color than vanilla stained glass. Oh, and they're more solid, since you don't need Silk Touch to pick them up. But in any case, feel free to change the recipes yourself at any time, or use a modpack that does.

These are just Conquest/Chroma Hills/John Smith/other-texture-pack-I've-seen !!

First, that's not a question. Second, they're similar because we've all based our work on real-life leaded glass patterns: check out the link above if you're curious. So any resemblance is mainly due to the fact that we used the same inspirations.

Can you add a new pattern?

Possibly, but my time is limited these days. For now, what you see is what you get. Feel free to make suggestions, though.

Can you add a build for Minecraft version X.X.X?

For future versions, yes, I intend to. For older versions, unfortunately the method I use for my custom connected textures does not backport well at all. I'd have to redo the mod to have it work with Continuity or something. Possible, but time-consuming, so for now, this is it.
