About this Mod

NearPlayer

Is a client-side mod that allows you to detect the nearest players on the server.

It displays the name of the nearest player, the distance in blocks, icons of their equipment
(armor slots, as well as main hand and off-hand slots), and direction arrows to all nearby players
on the screen.

You can configure the mod directly in the game by pressing the "H" key (by default).
In the settings, you can specify the radius (it may be limited by the server); if you're playing with
a friend but don't want the mod to react to them — enter their nickname in the player exclusion field.
Also in the settings, you can enable or disable direction arrows and equipment display.

Frequently Asked Questions

Near Player server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.11). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Near Player compatible with fabric?

Near Player officially supports fabric for Minecraft 1.21.11, 1.21.10, 1.21.9. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Near Player – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Near Player consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
