About
This mod provides a command for adjusting per-player render distances
Usage
The vd command is used to set a specific view distance for a player (or group of players).
vd <targets> <view_distance>
The default_view_distance gamerule is used to set the view distance given to a player when they join for the first time.

Installation
Fabric, Quilt, Forge, NeoForge
Simply put the mod in the mods folder
Sponge
Simply put the plugin in the plugins folder
Spigot/PaperMC
- Install the Ignite Mixin loader
- Run the ignite jar alongside the paper/spigot jar
- Put the mod in the mods folder and restart
Folia
- Install the Ignite Mixin loader
- Rename the Folia jar to "paper.jar". Alternatively, you can launch the game with the following JVM args:
-Dignite.locator=paper -Dignite.jar=./folia.jar - Run the ignite jar alongside the folia jar
- Put the mod in the mods folder and restart

How to Install Optometrist on Your Server
Order Server
Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).
Set fabric Loader
In the panel under "Egg", select the fabric loader and matching Minecraft version (26.1.2).
Install Mod
Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Optometrist". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Optometrist server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (26.1.2). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Server lagging with Optometrist – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Optometrist consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
