About this Mod

Packet Logger mod

This mod logs all packets (including all relevant data) that you send to the server, and saves it to a seperate JSON (written and saved on disconnect, inside the 'packet-logs' folder) file with timestamps!

Why not incoming packets?

Minecraft code is non human readable, so reading packet class names leads to a non human readable output, I've had to manually list packet names for each outgoing packet, I do plan to add support for all incoming packets in the future!

Dependencies

This mod requires Fabric api, and Cloth config + Mod menu for configuration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Packet Logger server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.20.4). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Packet Logger compatible with fabric?

Packet Logger officially supports fabric for Minecraft 1.20.4, 1.20.3, 1.20.2. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Packet Logger – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Packet Logger consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
