About this Mod

Portal Anchor

Portal Anchor fixes a niche but painful vanilla server issue: mobs can disappear after going through a Nether portal if they arrive in a dimension where players exist, but are very far away.

That can break portal-based farms, especially setups that move mobs between the Overworld and the Nether.

This mod gives mobs a short grace window after dimension travel so they do not instantly despawn just because the nearest player is far away.

Good to know

  • Works server-side.
  • Players do not need to install it on their client.
  • Also works in singleplayer.
  • Intended for portal farms and technical survival servers.
  • Does not add blocks, items, mobs, or worldgen.

Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (26.1.2). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Server lagging with Portal Anchor – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Portal Anchor consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
