About this Mod

A TFC:TNG addon for 1.18.2 and 1.20 that adds three new types of prospecting tools.

The Prospector's Hammer: A tool similar to the default Prospector's Pick but with a smaller range
The Prospector's Drill: A directional prospector that scans in the direction you're facing
The Mineral Prospector: A tool which scans a large area, but only reports non-metal ores

Feel free to add this to any modpacks, no need to ask

As of 0.4.0, KubeJS can be used to create custom prospecting tools. See the wiki page on the subject.

How to Install Precision Prospecting on Your Server

Order Server

Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).

Set forge Loader

In the panel under "Egg", select the forge loader and matching Minecraft version (1.21.1).

Install Mod

Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Precision Prospecting". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Precision Prospecting server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong forge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Precision Prospecting compatible with forge and neoforge?

Server lagging with Precision Prospecting – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Precision Prospecting consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
