Add pronouns to players!

/pronouns help

I always play on a small online server, and find it awkward to ask someone's pronouns. Instead of looking in the Discord chat history for previous answers, I can now save what they said and know for sure!

This mod also connects with PronounDB to fetch online players' pronouns. People can link their Minecraft account (and other kinds of accounts) here and set their pronouns.
You can set someone's pronouns manually (if they don't have any in the PronounDB), and overwrite previously defined pronouns.

Note: this mod is client-side only, so unfortunately nobody will be able to see what pronouns you set for other people. You can share the configuration file with other people though, if you would like to share.

Mod has been tested on 1.21.1 and 1.20, so I hope all versions in-between work too lol.

How to Install Pronouns On Join on Your Server

Order Server

Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).

Set fabric Loader

In the panel under "Egg", select the fabric loader and matching Minecraft version (1.21.11).

Install Mod

Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Pronouns On Join". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Pronouns On Join server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.11). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Pronouns On Join compatible with fabric and quilt?

Pronouns On Join officially supports fabric, quilt for Minecraft 1.21.11, 1.21.10, 1.21.9. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Pronouns On Join – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Pronouns On Join consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
