About this Mod

⏸️ QuietPause

Give your multiplayer server a real pause button.

Someone needs to answer the door, change their settings, grab some food, or take a quick break?

QuietPause lets you pause the entire game without shutting down the server or allowing other players to continue progressing.

It is designed for private SMPs, co-op worlds, manhunts, minigames, and friend groups.

✨ What gets paused?

While the game is paused:

Player restrictions

  • Players cannot move, place, or break blocks
  • Inventories cannot be opened or interacted with
  • Items cannot be dropped or swapped
  • Damage and hunger are prevented
  • Projectile launching is blocked

World freeze

  • Mobs stop moving and lose their AI
  • Projectiles, TNT, falling blocks, and vehicles are frozen in place
  • Explosions and fire or block spread are prevented
  • Redstone signals are frozen
  • Crop, tree, and structure growth is stopped
  • Fluid flow is halted
  • Furnaces, brewing stands, and dispensers are paused
  • Leaf decay is stopped
  • Ice and snow formation, as well as ice melting, are prevented
  • Entity transformations are prevented, including zombie villager curing
  • Natural and patrol mob spawning is blocked
  • Villager trade restocking is prevented
  • Weather, thunder, and lightning are frozen
  • World time stops

Safe resume

  • Underwater players are protected during the pause
  • Gameplay resumes with a safe 5-second countdown
  • Everything continues from where it stopped once the pause ends

⚙️ How does it work?

QuietPause creates a server-wide pause by freezing gameplay entities and blocking actions that could progress the game.

🎮 Commands

Pause or resume the game

/f

or:

/p

Both commands toggle the server-wide pause.

When the game is resumed, QuietPause starts a safe 5-second countdown before gameplay continues.

Allow everyone to pause

/quiet f public

In public mode, every player can pause the game. Only the player who started the pause or an administrator can resume it.

Restrict pausing to administrators

/quiet f admin

In admin mode, only server administrators can pause or resume the game.

Changing the access mode requires operator access. On Paper, this permission can also be granted using:

quiet.pause.admin

📦 Supported platforms

  • Paper
  • Fabric
  • Purpur and compatible Paper forks
  • Dedicated multiplayer servers

No client-side installation is required when joining a dedicated server.

🌍 Languages and configuration

QuietPause includes:

  • English messages
  • Turkish messages
  • Configurable server messages
  • Public and administrator-only access modes

🧩 Developer API

QuietPause provides developer APIs for Paper and Fabric.

The API allows other plugins and mods to:

  • Listen for pause and resume events
  • Check the current pause state
  • Pause or resume the game programmatically
  • Cancel pause and resume events on Paper

For integration instructions and up-to-date code examples, see the QuietPause GitHub repository.

💡 Useful for

  • Quick AFK breaks
  • Temporary disconnects
  • Pausing before an important fight
  • Discussing plans during manhunts or minigames
  • Preventing players from progressing while someone is away
  • Taking a break without restarting the server

Someone said “BRB”? Pause the game, not the server.

Frequently Asked Questions

QuietPause server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong bukkit version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.11). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is QuietPause compatible with bukkit and fabric and paper and purpur?

QuietPause officially supports bukkit, fabric, paper, purpur for Minecraft 1.21.11, 1.21.10, 1.21.9. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with QuietPause – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if QuietPause consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
