About this Mod
RecursiveCraft
RecursiveCraft is a crafting helper mod for Minecraft 1.20.1. It lets you choose a target item and automatically handles the intermediate crafting steps when the required base materials are available in your inventory.
For example, if you have logs in your inventory, RecursiveCraft can craft planks and sticks as part of the same crafting chain instead of requiring you to craft each step manually.
How to use
RecursiveCraft adds two crafting tools:
- Recursive Crafter: a placeable block
- Handheld Crafter: a portable item
Right-click the Recursive Crafter block or use the Handheld Crafter to open the crafting screen.
In the screen:
- Choose the item you want to craft.
- Set the amount.
- Click Craft.
RecursiveCraft checks your inventory, plans the required crafting path, consumes the needed materials, and gives you the final crafted item if the full chain can be completed.
Important crafting rule
RecursiveCraft can only continue through normal crafting-table recipes or materials already present in your inventory.
For example:
- Logs can be turned into planks.
- Planks can be turned into sticks.
- Logs can therefore be used as part of a wooden tool crafting chain.
But for an iron axe, you still need craftable or available iron materials such as iron ingots, nuggets, or blocks. Iron ore alone is not enough, because smelting is not part of the crafting-table recipe chain.

RecursiveCraft server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.20.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is RecursiveCraft compatible with fabric and forge?
RecursiveCraft officially supports fabric, forge for Minecraft 1.20.1. Note: Forge and Fabric mods are NOT cross-compatible – pick one loader and stick with it. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with RecursiveCraft – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if RecursiveCraft consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
