About this Mod
ReHeaded
Browse custom heads directly in-game, preview and rotate them, and use selector books for survival-friendly head conversion.
Fabric • Powered by Minecraft-Heads API v2
✨ Description
ReHeaded is a Fabric mod that lets you browse custom heads directly in-game using the Minecraft-Heads API v2.
Use /reheaded or /rh to open the browser, search through the catalog, preview heads, rotate them, and pick exactly what you want without ever leaving Minecraft. The browser is clean, fast, and uses caching so everything feels smooth instead of laggy or clunky.
In Creative mode, you just get the head instantly. In Survival mode, it creates a selector book so you can convert heads in a more vanilla-friendly way.
There is also a built-in guide and a written book workflow, so once you learn it once, it just clicks and becomes part of normal gameplay.

🧠 How It Works
🔍 Browser Workflow
- Run
/reheadedor/rh - Search for a head or enter a username
- Preview it and rotate it how you want
- In Creative → you get it instantly
- In Survival → it creates a selector book
- Use that book on a supported head to convert it
📘 ReHeaded Guide
ReHeaded has a built-in help system called the ReHeaded Guide.
If you are playing vanilla (without the client mod), you can still get the guide.
To get it, just sign a book and quill with the title ReHeaded Guide.
It will give you the guide in-game and walk you through selector books, written-book setup, and settings.
If you forget how something works, this is where you check.
📖 Written Book Workflow
- Make and sign a book and quill
- Put this on the first line:
Head Conversion Book - Add a minecraft-heads link, username, or UUID
- Keep the book in your inventory
- It converts into a selector book automatically
- Use it on a head to apply it
🧱 Supported Conversion Targets
- Player Head
- Creeper Head
- Zombie Head
- Skeleton Skull
- Wither Skeleton Skull
- Dragon Head
- Piglin Head
⚙️ Requirements
- Fabric Loader
- Fabric API
🌐 Network Use
ReHeaded uses:
- Minecraft-Heads API v2 (for the head catalog)
- Mojang profile/session services
- textures.minecraft.net
It does not scrape minecraft-heads.com.
Everything comes from the API and is cached locally so it is faster and does not spam requests.
🙌 Attribution
- Minecraft-Heads API v2 for the live head catalog and custom-head link resolution
- Mojang profile and session services for player head lookup
- textures.minecraft.net for texture delivery used by previews and player heads
- The overall workflow was also inspired by Custom Heads

ReHeaded server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (26.1.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is ReHeaded compatible with fabric?
ReHeaded officially supports fabric for Minecraft 26.1.1, 1.21.11. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with ReHeaded – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if ReHeaded consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
