About this Mod
Functionality
This mod limits the lighting of nether portals to only repaired ruined portals! All methods of lighting portals is included, such as:
- Flint & Steel
- Fire Charge
- Fireball
- Dispenser
Why do this?
Removing the ability to build nether portals encourages the player to form a relationship with the structure, potentially developing infrastructure or building around the ruined portal.
Config
Inside the config file for this mod, you can:
- Enable/disable a client-side message for attempting to light your own portal
- Customize the message for lighting your own portal
- Toggle whether portals inside of the nether need to be repaired ruined portals to activate
These features are helpful for modpack designers and server owners particularly.

How to Install Repair Your Portal! on Your Server
Order Server
Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).
Set forge Loader
In the panel under "Egg", select the forge loader and matching Minecraft version (1.21.11).
Install Mod
Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Repair Your Portal!". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.
