Rhenium
Optimization for minecraft that culls block entities, entities, particles and items.
About this Mod
Rhenium
Rhenium is a Fabric performance optimization mod designed to reduce lag in large survival worlds, particularly those with complex redstone contraptions and automated storage systems.
What it optimizes:
- Hopper throttling — Idle hoppers that have nothing to move are throttled, significantly reducing tick overhead in large storage systems with many hoppers
- Item entity throttling — Stationary ground items tick less frequently, reducing lag in areas with large item piles
- Chest render culling — Chest block entity renderers are skipped beyond 24 blocks, reducing client FPS drops in storage rooms with many chests
- Particle culling - Changes the distance at which the particles are rendered
- Entity culling - Changes the distance in which the entities are rendered
Fully configurable — Every optimization can be toggled individually via Mod Menu, so you keep only what you need.
Requirements:
- Fabric Loader 0.16.10+
- Minecraft 1.21.1 – 1.21.11
- Mod Menu
- Cloth Config
Recomended mods:
- Sodium
- Lithium
- Entity culling

Rhenium server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.11). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Rhenium compatible with fabric?
Rhenium officially supports fabric for Minecraft 1.21.11, 1.21.10, 1.21.9. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Rhenium – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Rhenium consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
