Never accidentally hurt your furry friends again!
We've all been there. You're fighting a zombie in a dark cave, your loyal dog jumps in to help, and bam... your sword sweeps and hits your own pet. The guilt is unbearable.
Safe Pets is a simple, lightweight Quality of Life (QoL) mod that completely disables "friendly fire" for your tamed animals. If you are the owner of the pet, your attacks will simply be canceled without dealing any damage to them.
Features:
Protects all your tamed and owned animals from your own attacks, including:
- Wolves (Dogs)
- Cats
- Parrots
- Horses, Donkeys, and Mules
- Llamas
⚠️ Important Notes:
Only protects against YOU: This mod only stops the owner from hurting their pets. Monsters, lava, fall damage, and other players can still hurt them. Keep them safe!
Cross-platform: Built with Architectury API.
Available for both Forge and Fabric.
Multiplayer: If you are playing on a server, this mod needs to be installed on the server for the damage cancellation to work.

How to Install Safe Pets on Your Server
Order Server
Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).
Set fabric Loader
In the panel under "Egg", select the fabric loader and matching Minecraft version (1.21.11).
Install Mod
Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Safe Pets". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Safe Pets server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.11). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Safe Pets compatible with fabric and forge and neoforge?
Safe Pets officially supports fabric, forge, neoforge for Minecraft 1.21.11, 1.21.10, 1.21.9. Note: Forge and Fabric mods are NOT cross-compatible – pick one loader and stick with it. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Safe Pets – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Safe Pets consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
