Sculk
Adds working and accurate Sculk to Minecraft!
About this Mod
REQUIRES FABRIC API
Sculk Catalyst
Detects mob deaths within an 8-block radius, and will spread Sculk (including Sensors and Shriekers,) the amount of which depends on how much XP that mob would've dropped. CAN BE FOUND IN DUNGEON/MINESHAFT/STRONGHOLD CHESTS.
Sculk Shrieker
Detects Sculk Sensors within an 8-block radius and entities stepping on itself. It will give all players within an 8-block radius Darkness upon being activated.
Sculk
Drops one XP orb upon breaking.
Sculk Veins
Is placed on the borders of Sculk growths, and above blocks that sculk growths are unable to replace.
MULTITHREADING (1.0.7+):
By default, the gamerule sculkThreading is set to true. This saves a TON on performance and is perfect for servers and mostly all hardware.
You can always run "/gamerule sculkThreading false" to disable sculk multithreading, however, beware of low performance with Catalysts.
/gamerule sculkThreads (1.0.9+): Allows you to adjust the available threads for Sculk Growths. If set to 21, every single Sculk Block that gets placed will use a separate thread, its impact on performance may vary based on your hardware.
IF YOU HAVE NOT UPDATED TO 1.0.11 YET, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO. IT FIXES MANY CRITICAL LAG ISSUES, AND WILL RUN MUCH FASTER ON ALL HARDWARE.
IF THIS IS USED IN A VIDEO, CREDIT THIS MOD AND LEAVE A LINK TO IT IN THE DESCRIPTION.
Gamerules
spreadMultiplier: Use /gamerule spreadMultipler (1-20) to increase the spread of Sculk Growths, and Sensors/Shriekers!
upwardSpread/downwardSpread: Controls how far updwards and downwards Sculk Growths can spread.
shriekerNeedsSculk: If on, Shriekers will need a Sculk Block underneath them to inflict Darkness on players.
shriekerShrieks: If off, Shriekers will no longer make a sound when activated.
doDarkness: Whether or not players can be inflicted with darkness.
shriekerGargles: If on, Shriekers will make a gargling sound and particles while waterlogged.
catalystPollution: If off, Catalysts won't spread Sculk and will instead spawn XP orbs above themselves. Sculk Sensors and Shriekers will NOT grow on Sculk Blocks, though.
catalystVibrations: If on, Catalysts will show vibrations sent to them like Sculk Sensors and Shriekers.
catalystDetectsAll: Allows Catalysts to detect all game events and spread sculk at their location like walking, jumping, etc., unless the entity is sneaking.

Sculk server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.18.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Sculk compatible with fabric?
Sculk officially supports fabric for Minecraft 1.18.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Sculk – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Sculk consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
