Version

Look around freely while moving - inspired by Rust's free look feature.

SimpleLook allows you to glance around without changing your movement direction. The keybind is unbound by default - I recommend binding it to Left Alt. Once bound, hold the key and move your mouse to look around independently while running, walking, flying with elytra, swimming, or doing anything else.

FAQ

Q: Does this work in multiplayer?
A: Yes. SimpleLook is completely client-side and works on any server.

Q: Does this give any unfair advantage?
A: No. It is purely visual. Your character still faces the direction you are moving, and other players see you normally.

Q: Can I use this while flying with elytra?
A: Yes. It works with all movement types including elytra flight, swimming, and riding.

Q: Does it work while riding mounts?
A: Yes. It works with all rideable entities including horses, pigs, striders, happy ghasts, and any other mounts.

Q: Is this like the free look in Rust?
A: Exactly. It is inspired by Rust's free look feature that lets you look around while sprinting.

Q: Why is the keybind unbound by default?
A: To avoid conflicts with other mods. We recommend binding it to Left Alt for the most natural experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

SimpleLook server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (26.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is SimpleLook compatible with fabric?

SimpleLook officially supports fabric for Minecraft 26.1, 1.21.11, 1.21.10. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with SimpleLook – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if SimpleLook consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
