About this Mod

Ever wanted string without the hassle of farming spiders? Simply Cotton allows you to farm Cotton and form it into string! Includes nothing else - Simply Cotton™

Obtain cotton seeds by breaking grass and farm it like you would any other crop. Two cotton balls in a crafting grid will result in two string. Feel free to use in any modpacks, though credit is always appreciated. If you'd like to help add localizations, reach out to me on discord or through github.

This mod is for Fabric. I have no plans to port it to Forge, though anybody is welcome to do so.

How to Install Simply Cotton on Your Server

Order Server

Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).

Set fabric Loader

In the panel under "Egg", select the fabric loader and matching Minecraft version (1.18.1).

Install Mod

Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Simply Cotton". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Simply Cotton server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.18.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Simply Cotton compatible with fabric?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Simply Cotton consumes the most tick time.
