About this Mod
Small Logic Tweaks
Minecraft logic is weird. We’re making it make sense—one block at a time.
Small Logic Tweaks is a lightweight Vanilla+ mod focused on intuitive interactions that feel like they should already exist in Minecraft.
This is not a tech mod, automation overhaul, or progression expansion.
Minecraft already encourages certain player behaviors naturally:
- restoring landscapes
- building kitchens
- clearing forests
- large-scale building
But Vanilla mechanics do not always support those behaviors intuitively.
These tweaks aim to close that gap while preserving Vanilla balance and pacing.
If you've ever said:
"Why doesn't Minecraft already work like this?"
...this mod is probably for you.
✨ Features
🦴 Bone Meal: Instant Greenery
Why do you need Silk Touch just to start a patch of grass?
- Instant Surface Conversion: Apply Bone Meal directly to Dirt blocks to instantly begin natural grass spreading.
- Biome Awareness: In Mushroom biomes, Dirt becomes Mycelium instead.
- Vanilla Integration: Uses native sounds, particles, and behavior for a seamless Vanilla feel.
This mechanic is not intended to replace Silk Touch entirely.
It simply removes the awkward requirement of transporting a grass block halfway across the world just to restore natural terrain.
🪓 Timber
Tired of climbing giant trees just to remove the top few logs?
Timber transforms your axe into a specialized forestry tool.
- Breaking the base log can fell the entire tree.
- Connected leaves decay instantly alongside logs, dropping saplings and fruit immediately.
- Chopping speed scales dynamically based on the tree's volume, though higher Timber enchantment levels mitigate this multiplier.
- Only naturally generated leaves are targeted, preventing accidental destruction of wooden builds.
- Hold Shift to temporarily disable Timber and mine normally.
Higher Timber levels can support extremely large natural trees, though larger trees require proportionally more time to cut.
🌱 Jungle Sustainability
Jungle trees are technically renewable — until players accidentally erase the biome.
- slightly improved Jungle Sapling drops
- better long-term jungle sustainability
🎨 Coal & Charcoal → Black Dye
Charcoal requires deliberate player production, yet behaves almost identically to ordinary Coal.
- Charcoal Processing: Craft Black Dye directly from Charcoal to give it a small practical identity.
- Coal Alternative: Includes an optional config toggle to enable crafting Black Dye directly from standard Coal as well.
💧 Hydro-Hardening
Water Bottles already turn Dirt into Mud. Concrete Powder still somehow ignores them.
- Water Bottle Interaction: Right-click Concrete Powder with a Water Bottle to instantly solidify it into Concrete, returning an empty glass bottle to your hand.
- Splash Potion AOE: Throwing a Splash Water Bottle triggers a realistic area-of-effect splash where the direct hit block hardens completely, and surrounding powder blocks have a 40% chance to dry and solidify.
🥔 Poisonous Potato Integration
Automated agricultural harvesting shouldn't create forced inventory trash micromanagement.
- Composting: Throw Poisonous Potatoes into a Composter for a reliable 65% chance to increase the compost level.
- Brewing: Brew them with an Awkward Potion to craft a standard Potion of Poison, giving the item a practical chemical utility.
🌌 Void Insomnia
Overworld insomnia tracking punishes builders with an aerial nuisance while skipping nights with beds ruins nocturnal exploration.
- Overworld Liberation: Phantoms no longer spawn in the Overworld, completely freeing the night for creative building and hunting.
- The End Dimension Apex: Phantoms now exclusively spawn as native threats of the void in The End dimension.
- Dynamic Thresholds: The spawning engine adapts directly to your equipment progression, tracking separate insomnia thresholds depending on whether you possess an Elytra.
⚖️ Design Philosophy & Balance
Small Logic Tweaks is built around one core principle:
Improve interaction flow without removing gameplay effort.
These tweaks are intentionally designed to remain:
- manual rather than automated
- immersive rather than excessive
- supportive rather than progression-skipping
These systems also include intentional limitations and tradeoffs to preserve Vanilla gameplay flow:
- felling massive trees takes time
- Timber axes cannot receive Efficiency
- large-scale cutting may briefly increase server load
Timber intentionally avoids Efficiency compatibility to preserve precision building and reduce accidental large-scale destruction.
For building:
- use Efficiency
For forestry work:
- use Timber
Different tools for different jobs — just like Vanilla Minecraft.
🔧 Compatibility
- Designed for Vanilla-style gameplay
- Lightweight and minimally invasive
- Intended to work alongside most QoL and world-generation mods
- Requires installation on both the client and server for multiplayer synchronization
🏗️ Roadmap
The following ideas are currently being explored and may release in any order.
🔥 Magma Kitchen
Players build kitchens constantly, yet most cooking remains hidden inside utility blocks.
- cook dropped food directly on Magma Blocks
- visible slow-cooking interaction
- food is consumed by the block if left unattended for too long (native entity despawn/burn logic)
🪚 Sawmill
Stone has precision cutting. Wood still doesn't.
- less wasteful wood crafting
- smoother decorative building workflows
- possible future use for the Fletching Table
🐽 Sniffer: Archeological Flora
Minecraft presents Sniffers as ancient plant hunters. They barely uncover ancient flora.
- Sniffers can occasionally discover rare botanical relics
- expands the archeological fantasy of the mob
🔨 Anvil: Structural Penalty
Maintaining equipment and evolving equipment are not the same thing.
- repairing durability no longer increases RepairCost
- renaming items no longer increases RepairCost
- enchantment upgrades still increase long-term cost
🧚 Allay: Music, Memory & Weightlessness
Allays clearly love music and clearly need rescuing. Vanilla Minecraft never fully commits to either idea.
- rescued Allays permanently remember their first savior
- music can permanently anchor nearby Allays
- duplicated Allays require new bonding
- lightweight hovering attributes prevent them from accidentally trampling fragile Turtle Eggs.
🧪 Acoustic Glass
Amethyst Shards block light via Tinted Glass, but Echo Shards lack an acoustic equivalent.
- craft transparent blocks using Echo Shards that block 100% of vibrations
- clean aesthetic solution for engineering wireless Sculk redstone layouts
👁️ Sculk Catalyst: Return to Silence
Conquering an Ancient City by eliminating its threat offers no long-term ecological reward.
- if zero natural Shriekers remain nearby, Catalysts enter a clean condensation state
- traps nearby mob death energy to form a renewable supply of Echo Shards
