About this Mod
SmartCrosshair
A high-performance, client-side dynamic targeting and visual indexing utility for the Fabric ecosystem.
Overview
SmartCrosshair completely overhauls the client-side targeting interface by introducing reactive, distance-aware telemetry directly onto the crosshair rendering layer. Engineered specifically for competitive PvP and high-pacing combat environments, this utility intercepts entity raycasting metrics to dynamically adjust crosshair hue saturation and color values based on target proximity. This provides instantaneous, subconscious distance indexing without interrupting core rendering hardware pipelines.
Key Features
- Dynamic Raycast Indexing — Actively monitors crosshair collision matrices, shifting to clear proximity registers upon intersecting valid target geometry (including players, hostile/passive entities, and armor stands).
- Proximity-Based Color Matrix — Implements a graded color gradient to communicate precise target depth maps in real-time:
- Immediate Proximity: Deeper maroon/crimson register.
- Standard Engagement Range: High-visibility classic red.
- Extended Range: Faded, low-saturation red threshold.
- Camera Context Agnostic — Fully functional across all camera perspective matrices, executing tracking variables seamlessly in both first-person and third-person projection matrices.
- Non-Destructive Texture Overlay — Operates entirely via real-time vertex color transformations rather than hard overriding source textures, ensuring absolute compatibility with custom asset pipelines and third-party resource packs.
- Low-Level Execution Lifecycle — Purely visual client adjustments containing zero simulation-side code modifications. Safe for deployment on restricted multiplayer platforms and competitive PvP architectures.
Installation Guide
- Dependency Verification: Ensure the target execution environment has the correct version of the Fabric Loader and Fabric API successfully deployed.
- Deployment: Move the compiled
SmartCrosshairbinary payload directly into your activemodsexecution directory. - Initialization: Launch the client payload. Input configurations and toggle keybind switches can be mapped directly within the native game controls menu schema.
Available exclusively for the Fabric Mod Loader ecosystem.

SmartCrosshair server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is SmartCrosshair compatible with fabric?
SmartCrosshair officially supports fabric for Minecraft 1.21.1, 1.21. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with SmartCrosshair – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if SmartCrosshair consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
