Smooth healing
Healing rework to make combat more difficult but make it flow better
About this Mod
Smooth healing
A simple mod that reworks how health regeneration works.
Features
Now, you heal by waiting after having taken some damage. By default, you start healing back up 10 seconds after having last taken at least 1 point of damage, and you gain 1 health every 4 seconds. This is intentionally harsh to force you into fleeing combat or using healing items instead of eating a steak mid-combat, which makes no sense.
However, gaining hearts will still deplete your hunger, at the same rate as vanilla (you will still heal even if your hunger is not full).
Saturation now gives bonus armour. By default, you gain 2 points when saturation is above 6, and 1 point when it is between 0 and 6. For reference, eating a beef steak almost max hunger gives 12 points of saturation.
Configuration
You can configure all numeric values in the config file or in Mod Menu.
It's also possible to disable the saturation mechanic.
Dependencies
May require Cloth Config.

Smooth healing server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Smooth healing compatible with fabric?
Smooth healing officially supports fabric for Minecraft 1.21.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Smooth healing – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Smooth healing consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
