About this Mod
Snail Mob
You crushed his wife. Now Jeffery is coming for you.
The moment you spawned into this world, your boot came down on a small, fragile creature named Jeffica. You didn't notice. You walked on.
Her husband noticed.
Jeffery is a snail. Jeffery is slow. Jeffery is inevitable.
He has crossed mountains for you. He has swum oceans for you. He has followed you into the Nether and out the other side. He moves at half a block per second. He will never stop. He will never sleep. And if he ever — ever — catches up to you, the message in chat will read:
Jeffery got his revenge on you while you were trying to escape Skeleton.
How it works
When you join a world, Jeffery spawns just out of sight and begins his slow, deliberate march toward your exact coordinates. He doesn't path around obstacles the way other mobs do — he is bound to you. Build walls. Dig holes. Sail away. He's still coming.
If you outrun him by enough blocks, he enters a dormant simulation mode — the chunks around him unload, but his position continues advancing toward you in the background. The moment you slow down, or sleep, or build a base… he closes the gap.
When he touches you, you die. There is no fighting him. There is no negotiating. There is only running.
Items & blocks
You are not entirely defenseless — you just can't win. You can only stay informed.
| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Snail Locator | A compass that points to Jeffery's current position. The needle never lies. |
| Snail Sensor | A Geiger-counter-style detector that clicks faster as he gets closer. Silent at long range; frantic when he's outside your door. |
| Snail Tracking Map | A map item with a live decoration that follows Jeffery across the world. |
| Snail Beacon | A placed block that fires a vertical beam of light from Jeffery's position — but only when he's within 100 blocks (configurable). An early-warning system for the inevitable. |
| Jeffica's Remains | The flattened shell of his wife. Dropped at world spawn. A keepsake. A reminder. |
Configuration
Everything is tunable from the in-game config screen (also hot-reloads from the .toml file with no restart):
- Snail speed — default 0.5 blocks/sec. Crank to 5 for nightmare mode, or down to a crawl for a slow-burn campaign.
- Initial spawn distance — how far away Jeffery starts on a fresh world.
- Dormancy threshold — distance at which Jeffery enters simulated pursuit (saves performance).
- Creative immunity — toggle whether creative/spectator players are safe (default: yes).
- Distance broadcast messages — periodic "the snail is X blocks away" chat messages. Disable for a stealthier, more terrifying experience.
- Sensor click ranges & rates — full control over how loud and how soon the Snail Sensor reacts.
- Beacon beam visibility range — radius around the beacon within which Jeffery's beam appears.
- Master enable/disable — turn the entire mod off without uninstalling. All snails despawn cleanly.
